Doug Durgie, elder of Second Reformed Church, Irvington,
died on January 1, 2013. Doug was
predeceased by his wife, Edith, in 1988.
Doug served in WWII as a tank gunner and rifle sniper. He earned the Purple Heart in his service. Doug worked as an engineer, and volunteered
much time at his church, the VFW, ATT Pioneers, and gave to many animal
charities.
There will be a viewing at Union Funeral Home, 1600 Stuyvesant
Ave., Union, NJ on Friday January 4, from 9 to 11 AM. At 11 AM, there will be a funeral, and then
we will process to inter him with his wife at Restland Cemetery in East
Hanover, NJ, at approximately 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second
Reformed Church Property Fund, 132 Elmwood Ave. Irvington, NJ 07111.
