Peeved

Pet peeve: if you are going to quote -- especially from the Bible -- quote it correctly and fully!

This weekend -- I had off, so I worshipped elsewhere, and the pastor kept saying that the congregation shouldn't worry about anything because "all things work together for good." No: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28, ESV). "all things work together for good" only for a specific group of people!

Also, I dared to turn on Christian radio briefly, and heard a song wth the chorus, "every knee shall bow, every tongue confess, that God is love." No: "Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:9-11, ESV). "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess" that Jesus Christ is Lord!
