On John 4:8 --
"The fact that the disciples bought food shows that the Lord by no means begged, but that he had money for buying necessities of life and that he carried it with him in the person of Judas. For this reason, when the Lord commanded them to take no money and no purse when they went out to evangelize, it was only temporary and limited to that first mission of the apostles. Therefore, it is no sin even for preachers of the gospel to have and to carry around money. But it is a sin to use money wickedly." Martin Bucer. Reformed Commentary on Scripture, New Testament IV: John 1-12, 126
