On Hebrews
2:5-9 – “[God] hath not made the world, and then turned it off his hand, to
stand on its own bottom in shift for itself; but there is continually, every
moment, and emanation of power from
God unto every creature, the greatest, the least, the meanest, to preserve them
in there being an order; which if it were suspended but for one moment, they
would all lose their station and being, and by confusion be reduced into
nothing. ‘In him we live, and move, and have our being,’ Acts 17:28; and ‘he
give us to all life, and breath, and all things,’ verse 25.” – John Owen, Epistle to the Hebrews,
volume 3, 348.
