Mary Minor Haristeen,
“Harry” to her friends, is almost run off the road by Barbara Leader, home
nurse to retired Governor, Samuel Holloway.
It is a good thing that Barbara was dead behind the wheel, or Harry
would have had a word with her.
The corner announces that it looks like a heart attack,
but an autopsy will be performed.
Besides, Barbara was young – it seemed pretty unlikely. Unless there was something they didn’t know.
Mrs. Murphy, Pewter, her cats, and Tee Tucker, her corgi,
try to fit the pieces together when it is revealed that Barbara was
poisoned. Could it have anything to do
with the fact that the ex-Governor is writing his memoirs?
The story alternates between present day and the slave
plantation from the Governors distant past, along with a story about a slave
who murdered his master.
If humans had any brains at all, they would have figured
it out much more quickly, but the animals knew…will you?
You’ll need to pick up a copy of Rita Mae Brown and
Sneaky Pie Brown’s Tall Tail.
